Co-teaching: A Framework for Collaborative Practices

This workshop explores to explore a comprehensive framework of collaborative practices for classroom teachers, content areas specialists, ENL teachers, and special education teachers. The workshop's goals are (1) to have participating educators engage in critical conversations and action planning for co-teaching and collaborative practices and (2) to introduce and promote an integrated service delivery model of co-planning, co-teaching, co-assessment, and reflection.

Distinguishing Between Language Difficulty and Learning Disability

This workshop addresses key questions for teachers and school-based support personnel to consider when determining if a multilingual learner is having difficulty in school based on common second language acquisition issues or if the learner is showing signs of a learning disability. The workshop has an interactive component.

ENL and SWD Teacher Collaboration

Collaboration between ENL and SWD specialists may be among the most rewarding instructional partnerships. This interactive session critically examines the best strategies for working with multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and dually identified students. The objective is to use asset-based strategies to cultivate an understanding of how a collaboratively designed instructional focus can develop impactful academic, linguistic, and social development for all students. Participants will apply collaborative ideas to their own contexts.

Best Practices on Behalf of Multilingual Learners in the General Education Classroom

These workshops introduce best practices and explore differentiation frameworks for general education teachers. These interactive professional development sessions focus on ways to promote language and literacy development for multilingual learners.
